Mission Statement

New Moon Farm Goat Rescue and Sanctuary is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of animals in need. Whether victims of financial difficulties, neglect or abuse, we are committed to taking in unwanted animals brought to us via owner surrender, as well as by animal control. In addition to caring for these animals, New Moon Farm strives to promote compassion and respect for all living creatures through a presence in the community and by offering educational opportunities.

Description

Since taking in our first goat, Ziggy, in 1999, we have taken in, rehabilitated and placed over 1200 animals. There are typically between 30 and 50 animals awaiting adoption at the rescue, though that number occasionally swells when a large rescue takes place. The most goats we have ever taken in at one time was 249, rescued from a hoarding situation in 2007. NMF regularly works with Animal Control agencies throughout the state. Most don’t have the facilities for livestock, and bring their goats and sheep to us. We do not accept any payment for this. Additionally, there is a permanent herd of 10 goats, 1 sheep, 3 horses, 2 dogs and 5 cats that call New Moon Farm home. They are all rescues as well.

New Moon Farm is run completely by volunteers - we have no paid administrators or staff. 100% of the contributions received goes directly to caring for the animals.
