Friendly visitors are needed to visit with an isolated senior. These clients live alone and have little to no social interaction, putting them in great need of a friend. Our friendly visitors visit their client as often as they agree upon, which could be once a week to once a month. Some of our clients like to play card games or discuss books, while others just want someone to talk to. Can you help make a difference in a senior's life?

Drivers are needed to help transport seniors to places like their doctor's office, the grocery store, and the pharmacy. This is a flexible volunteer opportunity - you tell us when you're available and we'll match you with a client in need. We serve clients throughout Milwaukee County and you can tell us which communities you want to drive in. Your time and kindness helps our clients stay independent in their homes and is much appreciated! COVID Volunteer Safety and Health Policy Volunteers providing transportation to medical appointments for Eras clients are asked to follow CDC guidelines to help reduce the spread of illness. All Eras volunteers and clients must wear a face mask during this volunteer service. Face masks have been mailed to active volunteers and clients. Eras Senior Network is happy to provide a face mask and hand sanitizer to those in need of one. Clients are asked to sit in the backseat of the volunteer’s vehicle during their service and volunteers are asked to sanitize their vehicle before and after transporting the client. Volunteers and clients are asked to refrain from making physical contact with each other, and to maintain a distance of at least six feet from each other when outside of the vehicle. Volunteer drivers may be asked to wait in their vehicle during the client’s appointment. Any volunteer entering a medical facility with the client may be screened for COVID-19 symptoms upon entry. Clients are screened by Eras for COVID-19 symptoms by Eras staff prior to their service. We request that all volunteers refrain from serving if they exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms including cough, difficulty breathing, fever, loss of taste or smell, and upset stomach, or have been in close contact with someone exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms within the last 14 days. Volunteers should also refrain from serving if they have had a fever over 100.4 within the last 72 hours.

Help a senior maintain their yard by volunteering to provide lawn mowing services. This opportunity is flexible around your schedule and dependent on how fast the grass grows! At the beginning of the summer Eras will match interested volunteers with one (or more) of our clients. Throughout the season volunteers are expected to stop over when the senior’s lawn needs cutting. Some clients have their own equipment for you to use and others need you to bring the supplies. Groups can also participate in this opportunity and take turns mowing the client’s lawn throughout the season.
