Mission Statement

Improve the quality of life of the elderly and their dependants

Description

Uganda Rural elderly Support is a non governmental organisation supporting the elderly and their dependants (HIV/AIDS orphans) in rural areas of Uganda.

This vulnerable group of people has got issues of access related to health services, support education by the orphans living with them, low income, poor nutrition, abject poverty and hunger and dilapidated state of houses.

In Uganda today, most elderly people in rural areas are abandoned, isolated and helpless hence leading unfulfilled lives. The communities in rural areas have got a challenge of extending care to elderly neighbours and their dependants/ care takers. The elderly in urban areas rely on pension support, while those in rural areas rely on hand work till they are physically incapacitated. These vulnerable groups of people live in extreme poverty in communities where elder abuse and neglect is common and there is need for us to extend love to these people. We are persuaded by the scripture from the Bible in Galatians 6:2 which says, "Carry each other’s burdens and in a way you will fulfil the law of Christ."

Uganda Rural Elderly Support is being developed to improve the quality of life of the elderly and their dependants/ community family supporters.

We are seeking for volunteers to come and work with us,let it be a short stay,we warmly welcome them.
