Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The Women of Style, Spirit & Success, Inc. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable organization whose mission is to improve the economic conditions for women and girls by teaching them the tools necessary to have successful careers, operate successful businesses and prepare for careers of the future.
One of our programs is The F.F.E.W. (The Future's Fashion Entrepreneurial Women) is a STEAM project that engages the interest of young women in fashion to STEM courses. They learn technology, science, math, through fashion design and they also learn how to sew in the process. Giving them a sustainable skill that will last them throughout their lifetime. Over 500 girls have completed this after school and summer camp program. We have also had the privilege of having eight AmeriCorps VISTAs help us throughout the years.
But our most popular sponsored program is the Women's Theatre Festival of Memphis (WTFM), the first international women’s theatre festival in the world. This biennial festival is designed to provide educational and performance opportunities for women and highlight and award the contributions of women in the world of theatre arts. WTFM debuted in August 2012 in three venues and was very successful. WTFM will hold its second festival August 7 - 9, 2014 in the Midtown Theatre District of Memphis, TN at four theatres: The Circuit Playhouse, Playhouse on the Square, TheatreWorks and the new Hattiloo Theatre.
Opening night, there is the WTFM Gyneka Awards Gala performance where women who exemplify theatre arts will be honored with tribute performances by renowned artists in their respective fields. Prior to the performance, there will be a reception for the WTFM corporate sponsors, WTFM artists, Gyneka recipients and their guests.
The days following, there will be full length plays, one-acts, readings, solo performances, musicals, operatic, dance and improvisational performances. Educational, Business and Technology workshops will also be presented as well as networking opportunities.
