Description
The Foster Grandparent Program provides the organized opportunity for low-income seniors to love, nuture, and tutor children who have special needs.
The Foster Grandparent Program offers seniors age 60 and older the opportunity to mentor, tutor, and nuture children and youth with special needs, in a structured setting such as school or Head Start. Foster Grandparents who meet income eligibility guidelines will receive a modest, tax-free stipend to offset the cost of volunteering. Foster Grandparents serve 15-40 hours a week, usually Monday through Friday, and you help to set your volunteer schedule. Volunteers serve children mostly one-on-one. Other benefits include reimbursement for transportation, some meals during service, an annual physical, and accident and liability insurance while on duty. Pre-Service and monthly training sessions provided.
