Mission Statement

The Friends Program is a non-profit social service organization that builds positive connections and solutions for at-risk youth, families and seniors.

Description

Enjoy children's smiles and change lives just by showing you care, at a SCHOOL OR CHILDCARE CENTER near you.

Receive a Federal tax-free stipend for volunteering that does NOT affect Social Security, rent subsidies or ANY type of assistance.

Just for folks age 55+!

Join others finding renewed meaning in life. Children and teachers will be wonderful new friends. We will find a perfect place for you when you choose the age-group you like best -- infants, toddlers, kindergarteners, first or second graders or older. It's your choice, and will be in your own town.

The program pays the stipend, plus mileage reimbursements and often a meal at the site. We provide training and monthly workshops to keep you informed and in touch with other volunteers.

New relationships and a new lease on life, giving back to your own community, feeling connected and being very appreciated!

"I can have extra money in my pocket

and be part of something important.

It's the best thing I ever did." Volunteer.

This sounds like the Foster Grandparent Program in Florida. I volunteered during the 2011-2012 school year. It is the best program for students and volunteers. Each week, you notice a positive difference in students' behavior, learning, interest, social interaction, language, reading, writing, smiles and tears when you must leave. self improvement,
