JVS uses its special skills, knowledge and training to help its clients become economically self-reliant, productive citizens earning their own living in constructive careers. At all levels of ability, people deserve the opportunity to be useful and share in the dignity of work.

JVS's highest priority is helping those individuals who need its help the most, including:

  • the unemployed family wage earner
  • the physically and mentally disabled
  • the newly arrived immigrant
  • the aging worker
  • the single parent
  • the dislocated downsized employee
  • the unskilled and educationally disadvantaged
  • the next working generation.

Description

The Joseph L. Weinberg Vocational Rehabilitation Center , accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), provides comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities age 14 to 90+, who, by reason of their disability, are unable to find or sustain employment. Those served include individuals with emotional, physical, neurological, developmental, visual, and hearing disabilities. While referrals to the Rehabilitation Center come from various state and federal agencies that serve people who have disabilities, tours can be arranged without a referral for individuals interested in learning more about the program (see contact information at the bottom of this page.) Agencies that refer individuals to JVS for vocational rehabilitation services include the NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, the NJ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities, and the Morris County Office of Employment and Training. In addition, referrals for transition services are received from school districts throughout New Jersey.
