The specific use of the Stevensville Playhouse
As stated in Article 1, Section 1 of the Stevensville Playhouse Bylaws The purpose of the theatre is to raise the awareness of the rural communities of the Bitterroot Valley, in Montana, as to the performing arts through a coordinated program of education, outreach, and performance, with specific emphasis on developing Montana playwrights by offering a venue for production of original and unpublished works.
Mission:
The Stevensville Playhouse Inc. is dedicated to providing high-quality entertainment and expanded cultural experiences to Bitterroot Valley residents by:
Providing a professionally managed venue
Exploring each individual's artistic capabilities
Offering community participation opportunities
Providing training in the performing arts
Listening and learning from others
Encouraging personal growth
In the short term it will do this by sponsoring, producing and promoting a minimum of six productions annually. In the long term will accumulate equity from admissions income, grants, gifts, memorials, bequest and other available sources for the establishment of maintenance of a performing arts center.
Description
The Playhouse is run completly by volunteers. We produce 4 to 6 stage shows each year. We encourage local authors to showcase their work on our stage. We offer workshops for students and adults on various theater skills. Our theater provides a venue for many community organizations including schools, churches, piano and dance recitals, scouts, and fund raisers for cancer research. We provide a resource for costume and prop rental for these organization as well.
