Special Volunteer Programs

Description

A well-trained corps of volunteers prepared to respond quickly to supplement the work of Austin Police Department officers during a natural or man-made critical incident.

The Civil Defense Battalion consists of three companies, each trained to handle specially identified tasks with the goal of freeing officers to handle daily assignments requiring highly-trained police officers. These companies include: Aviation Detail, Headquarters Detail, Homeland Security Patrol Services. All volunteers will be activated to assist as needed in an critical incident.
