Operation Step Up engages volunteers to serve in homeland security and disaster response in their communities

Under Operation Step Up, you'll work through your volunteer center and your local emergency management network to build safer communities and train to assist your neighbors, friends, and families when disaster strikes. You may assist law enforcement in security at special events or with fire rescue in disaster response. You may assist the public in disaster preparedness through presentations and networking in your communities.
