Mission Statement

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Description

The Santa Clara County Council serves over 10,000 youth through 4,000 adult volunteers in nearly all of Santa Clara County (excluding Mountain View, Los Altos, and Palo Alto). Youth enroll in age-appropriate programs... boys from 1st through 5th grades are Cub Scouts and the adult volunteers work with them in weekly meetings. Boys from 6th to 12th grade are in Boy Scout troops and the adult leaders guide them in their running the program. Boys and girls, 14 to 21 years of age, are in the Venturing program and design high-adventure activities. The adult leaders counsel and guide them. Experienced Scouters serve in district or council positions, helping the unit-level leaders run quality programs.
