Reading Program Overview
The Keenan Lewis Foundation is dedicated to empowering and inspiring children and young adults through the promotion of health, education, and athletics. The estimated 44% of functional illiteracy in New Orleans has been found to correlate with the city’s crime rate along with low household incomes and educational performance. As part of the educational initiative, The Keenan Lewis Foundation has developed this reading program with the goal of increasing literacy amongst youth in New Orleans.
Back to School Extravaganza Overview
The 1 st annual Keenan Lewis Foundation Back to School Extravaganza will allow students and their families to enjoy free: food, snowballs, entertainment, give-a-ways, video gaming systems, rock climbing walls, massages and door prizes; receive free: school supplies, haircuts, dental and medical screenings, chiropractic services, school uniform vouchers and much more! Its goal is to provide a fun-filled family experience that promotes education while supplying 700 or more students with a book bag filled with school supplies on Sunday, July 13, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
FOOTBALL CAMP OVERVIEW
The objective of The Keenan Lewis Foundation Youth Football Camps is to provide kids in the New Orleans community with an enjoyable, educational, and enriching experience of learning how to play the sport. Camp participants will be taught the proper fundamental and advanced football techniques essential for success at every level of the game under the guidance of coaches, Keenan Lewis, and his NFL friends.
The Keenan Lewis Foundation Youth Football Camps will be free of charge to all participants. This program is a core part of the foundation’s philanthropic effort and mission to empower youth through the promotion of athletics and health. The camp will also teach participants the importance and methods to eating right, daily exercise, and proper nutrition.
