Mission Statement

The Arts and Culture Commission of Contra Costa County (AC5) is dedicated to advancing the arts in a way that promotes communication, education, appreciation and collaboration throughout Contra Costa County so that we may grow creatively as a community that preserves and celebrates our diverse cultural expression.

Description

AC5 strives to further Arts and Culture in Contra Costa County through a variety of efforts, including but not limited to:

  • Quality events disseminating information on important arts related issues, such as workshops/symposia in collaboration with other non-profits
  • Annual recognition events such as the Arts Recognition Awards and the California Arts Scholars recognition ceremony
  • Brings the NEA's Poetry Out Loud program to Contra Costa County
  • Art Passages, an exhibition series in the County Administration Building's public spaces highlighting artists and arts organizations throughout Contra Costa County
  • Acting as a liaison between government and the arts community by participation in programs such as the Contra Costa County Flag Contest, the U.S. Congressional Arts Contest, and the bi-annual State Senate Art Contest
