Mission Statement

Meeting Of The Hearts is an exciting, new mentoring program offered by the DeKalb County Human Development Department. The program is designed to meet the needs of children ages 4 - 18, who have a parent, guardian or caregiver who is incarcerated or has been recently released from prison.

Description

Meeting Of The Hearts mentoring program matches volunteer mentors with children for a period of 1 year or longer. Mentors are committed, consistent and have undergone a training and clearance procedure to insure the well being of children involved in the program. Mentors do not

take the place of parents and caregivers, but rather, provide support for the child via a trusting, special, healthy relationship. Mentors make a difference in a child's capacity to become competent, confident, happy and successful by providing tutoring, skill building, nurturing, coaching and consistency.
