At Care One Hospice we are committed to offering the highest quality care to our patients. Hospice care is about living life to its fullest, up to the final moment; receiving comfort and care when a cure is no longer possible; surrounding a patient and their loved ones with medical, emotional and spiritual support. Volunteers are an integral part of the Care One Hospice interdisciplinary team. Our trained volunteers provide support, love and care to our patients in a multitude of ways. Such ways include reading to them, singing to them, taking them for walks, or simply by sitting and holding their hand. In addition to providing direct support to our patients, support is also given to the caregivers and families. By volunteering for Care One Hospice, you become a part of a large family of professional caregivers who are continuously available to mentor and support you along the way.
Some important qualities that we are looking for in a volunteer: -compassion -dependability -commitment -ability to maintain confidentiality We have three main types of volunteer opportunities: - Administrative support: Filing, computer input, assembling information packets, and phone support. - Bereavement and spiritual support: support given to grieving family members and or caregivers after the passing of a loved one. - Patient support: visiting the patient whether it is bedside or active (i.e. going on walks, gardening), reading to them, speaking with them, listening to music, etc. volunteers also may assist the family with errands, household duties, laundry, picking up prescriptions etc. Please Contact Jessica@careonehospice.com for more information on becoming a volunteer.
