Mission Statement

Short Mugs Rescue Squad is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the health and well-being of French Bulldogs. We are based out of Texas and run and managed solely by volunteers. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home French Bulldogs that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, strays, commercial breeding kennels, import brokers and private rescue groups.

We also rescue other brachycephalic breeds such as english bulldogs, boston terriers and pugs on a case by case basis. We are based out of the Houston area, but we rescue across the entire state of Texas along with Oklahoma and Louisiana.

Short Mugs Rescue Squad is a volunteer based 501(c)3 rescue group based out of Texas focusing on French Bulldogs. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home French Bulldogs.

Although our main focus is on French Bulldogs we will try to help place English Bulldogs, Bostons and Pugs in other reputable rescue groups. Please see our RESCUE LINKS PAGE for other breed specific rescue groups. If we have room we will help any of these breeds that are in need. Our goal is to network with various Bulldog, Boston and Pug Rescues to get these breeds out of harm’s way and placed in forever homes.

I have been a foster/volunteer for just over a year. I enjoy volunteering at the events and I truly enjoy working with the dogs. The people are very supportive and welcoming, and they are very dedicated to doing what is in the best interests of dogs. I love that there is a lot of communication within the group and you are able to be as involved as you like. The level of commitment can be flexible based on what is going on in your life. I do not live in a metro area, but I have always been made to feel like I am supported and part of a the group. I hope this rescue continues to grow and flourish.

I joined this group as a volunteer, which quickly turned into a foster position! I lOVE every moment of being a foster home. It is the most enjoyable rewarding thing that I have been a part of. The dogs are a true joy! In addition to the fact this is a wonderful group of people who are supportive and helpful. I have made some wonderful friends having joined this group as well as getting to experience the joy of watching the dogs in my foster home bloom. I highly recommend joining Short Mugs Rescue Squad to anyone.
