Rhythm in Shoes

Description

Rhythm in Shoes is an American music and dance company, at home in Dayton, Ohio. Drawing on traditional forms of American music and dance -- swing tunes and tap, hoedowns and clogging -- the creative team of choreographer Sharon Leahy and composer Rick Good has been creating critically acclaimed work for 21 years. This work yields a unique fusion of music and dance with rhythm as the underlying component. Through it, the spirit of traditional dance and music is expressed with a thoroughly modern sensibility. Rhythm in Shoes has toured to 47 states, Ireland, Japan and Canada. We present workshops and residency activities to individuals of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. We believe strongly in artistic collaboration and locally have worked closely with and created new works with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Cityfolk, Dayton's premier presenter of traditional arts.
