Mission Statement

Our mission is to spur economic

self-sufficiency by giving

strategic grants to low-income

people of potential through

Partner Agencies

Description

MicroGrants is a 8 year old non-profit that partners with 20 + social service agencies. While they are providing direct service to their job training or microbusiness clients, we are fundraising to provide grants for their about-to-be graduates.

Often, a client can go through an entire 20 week-2 year training program, developing work habits and skills. They can even have reached the stage of employment interviews or business plan completion and be into loan review committees. They find another barrier--- the need for licenses or certifications, the ability to "get" to work that's not on a business line or rapid transit. They need uniforms, or tools.

The agency they have worked with nominates them for a MicroGrant, and, we award a $1000 grant to them, via the agency. The gift overcomes the barriers and they move forward, without the addition of more debt, on their pathway out of poverty.
