We are recruiting volunteers to lead coding-focused workshops for high schoolers at the upcoming PDX Hackathon! During the weekend of October 7th and 8th, ChickTech will be hosting our very first Hackathon in Portland, Oregon. The Hackathon is a two-day event focused on introducing coding concepts and hands-on practice to high school youth that are new to coding. The weekend will include dynamic speakers, workshops, team coding, and a project showcase to celebrate what our hackers have created! Workshop Lead volunteers will lead participants through workshops in 1 of 3 tracks; Website Building, Web-Based Games, and Intro to Hacking. Lesson plans for each workshop will be provided to leads ahead of time and each lead will teach the workshop for 3-4 sessions throughout Saturday, 10/7. On 10/8, Workshop Leads will be asked to serve as coding mentors, asking questions and helping students problem-solve as they code with their team. The ideal volunteer will have experience working with high schoolers and have familiarity with coding languages and concepts, as well as the application of different coding languages. Questions?
