The JCY-Westchester Community Partners’ mission is to enhance the educational experience of children in Westchester County through effective learning initiatives and the engagement of volunteer mentors
Since 1919, JCY-Westchester Community Partners (JCY-WCP) has served the community. In 2013, JCY-WCP was awarded the Best Intergenerational Community in the United States from Met Life and Generations United. Our SMART and Reading Buddies After School programs have been designated Programs of Distinction. Our work confirms the research that a caring relationship through mentoring plays a large role in boosting literacy skills.
For the past 95 years, JCY-Westchester Community Partners (JCY-WCP) has been at the forefront of community life. In 2013, JCY-WCP chose a strategic path, one that has strengthened and enhanced the agency; we merged with Family Service Society of Yonkers (FSSY), a well-respected agency whose mission complements ours and with whom we have worked well over the years. This partnership builds upon the goal of having an even greater impact in the community.
Our headquarters in downtown Yonkers is where we develop and run our programs, working with hundreds of adult volunteers as well as local high school and college students to increase literacy, decrease isolation, and form partnerships and relationships among the generations and varied cultures of Westchester County.
Our environment is warm and friendly with a business casual dress code. On any given day, the staff gathers to share lunch or celebrate monthly birthdays.
The team spirit is evident, and opinions are welcomed and discussed. Job descriptions and responsibilities are specific, but everyone pitches in and helps when necessary.
JCY-WCP is growing rapidly. Our programs have expanded over the last year and we are looking ahead to an exciting period of growth.
