The Great Lakes Folk Festival, produced by the Michigan State University Museum is a celebration of culture, tradition and community.
The Michigan State University Museum presents this annual award-winning festival celebrating culture, tradition and community. Music and dance stages feature rhythms, sounds, stories and spectacular musicianship over three days, from blues to bluegrass, Celtic, Contra Dance, Zydeco, Klezmer and more; a Taste of Traditions food court with authentic regional and ethnic cuisine; AND Children's Kidlore Activities Area, with hands-on fun for the whole family.
This was my 4th year volunteering with the Folk Festival and I do it because it is fun, I get to meet new people, and listen to great music! This is a wonderful program for the Mid-Michigan area and usually draws in big crowds! There are over 10 different volunteer positions over the course of the weekend Festival, so you are sure to find something that will pique your interest and match with your time and talents.
