Description

More than 8,400 babies are born at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns each year, more than any other hospital in California. Located in San Diego, Sharp Mary Birch is nationally recognized for its care of expectant mothers and high-risk pregnancies and for delivering babies , as well as for its level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). I love volunteering at the Perinatal Special Care Unit (PSCU) at Sharp Mary Birch. It's wonderful to interact with the nurses and mothers who are awaiting the birth of their child. The social interaction I have with our very special moms gives me the opportunity to listen, encourage and help pass the time faster while they are on bed rest. I have received very positive feedback from the both the patients and nurses for the contribution that I make. This volunteering experience will not only help you as you enter nursing but it will also give you great personal satisfaction. I love being apart of the Sharp experience.
