Mission Statement

The Rainbow Connection grants wishes to Michigan children stricken with life threatening illnesses and provides emergency support services to wish families.

Description

The Rainbow Connection is a Michigan-based 501c3 charity dedicated to granting wishes exclusively to Michigan children who are literally fighting for their lives. Founded in 1985, The Rainbow Connection has granted over 2000 wishes to children across Michigan suffering from life-threatening or terminal illnesses. From something as simple as a new computer or as complex as arranging a meeting with the President of the United States at the White House, to the most requested wish of all, a trip to Disney World, we grant over 150 wishes throughout the year.

The Rainbow Connection is also more than a wish. We offer support services, help with utility bills, funeral expenses, information and referral, special holiday get-togethers and picnics, and college scholarships for wish children. The Rainbow Connection receives no federal or state funds and depends exclusively on the kind generosity of our supporters. 2009 Annual audit reflects eighty eight cents of every dollar goes to granting Michigan children a wish.

Being the 4th oldest of 12 children I have always liked being around children. Since there has been some cancer in my family as of lately it has made me realize that I have a need to help others in this kind of situation.

As a parent of a former wish child that received a wish from the Rainbow Connection, I can not say Thank You enough to the Rainbow Connection and thier wonderful staff. What they did for our Son and family was much more then a wish. They allowed us to spend precious time together away from Doctors and the Hospitals and become a normal family again. We joined a family not an organization. The staff keeps in contact with us even though we are 6 years post our wish. If you ever want to be part of something special and know that you are taking care of children in need then get involved with the Rainbow Connection. No one will remember you for what title you held. They will not rememeber you for the size of the house you lived in our how much money you had. What they will always remember is how you made them feel. Make someone feel special today and get involved with the Rainbow Connection. It will bring positive change in your life!

There is nothing better than to volunteer to help children with life-threatening illnesses. It is an incredible feeling, and I love being able to give back to the community. It is also so nice to meet other volunteers at events. I have met so many wonderful, kind and compassionate people that love to volunteer for the same reasons that I do.

Rainbow Connection is local to Michigan. My time and donations helps a sick child in my own community and I like that plus they take good care of their volunteers. I learned a lot and they were glad i was there to help.
