Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Mission: To promote economic and community development in Greene County and surrounding counties, also to work with the youth and victims on a long term basis.
What Is Operation TBOC? Operation TBOC has served the community of Greene County, Alabama for over three years and have introduced there as well as in many surrounding counties numerous new things such as food pantries, clothing booths, better technology centers like the one we have in Atlanta, GA, setting up the infrastructure (business license, tax status, building and equipment) for a food pantry in Eutaw, AL. In addition we have assisted in rebuilding the lives of people in the community who get burned out, lose their jobs, homes or a loved one. Our organization has caused over 89 youths to come off the streets of Greene County and over 250 in the black belt area as a whole. Children who were making "C's", "D's" and "F's" are now making "A's" and "B's". Children now do not have to worry about what they will eat but now say "we know we will eat and we will have someone to help with homework". We take children to libraries, universities, museums, various other states and locations to explore more opportunities. TBOC encourages children and others to look for the beauty that lies within our fine country. We have moved through the black belt area as their children are now finding out what their purpose is and we are now expanding our reach into Georgia.
*How is this done? We have a community center in Greene County where all children can come in to not only get a meal but we have a full staff of mentors and tutors that help the kids with their homework. We teach the kids time management, we also offer counseling for those kids who just need someone to talk to. We offer incentives for not only good behavior but good grades which include but not limited to field trips, monetary gifts and scholarships.Operation TBOC forms life long relationships with each participant even after graduating high school some participants come back and volunteer to help mentor or tutor other kids
