Mission Statement

We support a philosophy of wilderness in which resources are primary and recreation is secondary. This philosophy is based on the Deeds of Trust by which Baxter State Park was conveyed to the State of Maine by Governor Percival P. Baxter, supported by other Baxter writings and speeches, and informed by the respected voices of others in wilderness preservation.

Description

Our Strategic Plan (2013-2015):

Friends of Baxter State Park has recently completed a Strategic Plan that charts a bold course for Friends of Baxter State Park to be a strong advocate and effective supporter and collaborator as it helps meet the priority needs of Baxter State Park.

We collaborate with Baxter State Park officials to set up many kinds of volunteer activities for those interested in giving back.
