Mission Statement

Our Vision Silicon Valley Shakespeare is innovating the classics through unique and relevant theatrical experiences that illuminate and inspire modern audiences. Our Mission Innovate We breathe new life into classic works through unique, vibrant, and compelling interpretations of the text and keep the art of theatre relevant for modern audiences. Our commitment to innovation reaches beyond the text to include state-of-the-art technology to provide the best in live entertainment. Illuminate We shed light on the classics through fresh interpretations to open eyes, expand minds, and foster a love of theatre in our community. Inspire We create art that touches people on a personal level, is a reflection of the world in which we live, and inspires people to play a role in the arts community as an artist, audience member, donor, or volunteer.

Our Core Programs

  • Shakespeare and classics-inspired productions in Sanborn Park, where we produce 22 ticketed performances of two plays each summer.
  • Shakespeare in San José, where we produce 13 performances free to the public in Willow Street Park.
  • An education program that features a summer camp for kids, workshops and assemblies to over 2,000 students in local schools, and an internship program for college students to achieve professional development training.
  • A partnership with the San José State University Department of Radio, Television, Film and Theatre, where we co-produce one full-scale production and a 48-Hour Play Festival.
