Mission Statement

The Riverside County Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Branch works to prepare the County and its health care system to respond to acts of terrorism and other public health emergencies.

Description

Riverside County Department of Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Branch (PHEPR) is a comprehensive network of public health professionals functioning to strengthen public health infrastructure in preparation for any natural or human made disaster. PHEPR is grant funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Public Health Preparedness and Response to all public health incidents. The Department of Homeland Security, State Homeland Security Program; Health Resources Services Administration; The Metropolitan Medical Response System; and the Cities Readiness Initiative also support activities and equipment.

Key focus areas include preparedness planning and readiness; surveillance and epidemiological capacity; laboratory capacity; communication s and information technology; risk communication and health information dissemination; and education and training.

Emergency Preparedness and Response staff includes a group of diverse and experienced professionals from several disciplines including Nursing, Emergency Medical Services, Epidemiology, Disease Control, Environmental Health and Hazardous Materials, Public Health Laboratory Services, Health Statistics, Information Technology, Health Education, and many others
