John Paul II Catholic High School

Mission Statement

Our mission at John Paul II Catholic High School is to prepare students for a successful career in life, as well as to be good citizens and active Christians; to form students into scholars and saints; and to help them prepare not only for this life, but above all, for eternal life

John Paul II Catholic High School was founded against formidable odds to assist parents with the Christian education of their children in accordance with the teachings of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Together with God’s Providence, it took the persistent dedication and efforts of a few parents, staff, students, and above all the pastor, Mgr, Larry Moran, to launch the school.

In 1993, Cindy Martin and Pat Walker began an effort to start a Catholic high school in Terre Haute. They approached Father Lawrence Moran, pastor at St. Patrick’s parish, to ask his permission to begin this project and his permission was readily given. The first organizational meeting was held in St. Margaret Mary’s family center and was attended by Sue Butwin of the Deanery Center and Ann Scheidler, along with Cindy and Pat. Mark and Susan Fuson soon joined the effort. Several meetings were held with Dan Eisner from the Archdiocese, and the group named itself the Blue Ribbon Task Force. Cindy, Pat, Mark, and Susan approached Fr. Moran to request a feasibility study of the prospects of a Catholic high school. The archdiocese agreed to finance this study.

John Paul II Catholic High School is a small, private, high school here in Terre Haute. We have been serving the community since 2000. We maintain low tuition for our students by asking every family to commit to high levels of service to the school and community.

Our school provides an alternative to the public school system for those families seeking smaller class sizes, daily prayer and religion are part of the curriculum, and rigorous, college preparatory academics.
