Mission Statement
The Center for Movement Education and Research (CMER) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the use of movement and dance as a creative and integrated source for improving educational, medical, social and cultural domains. The mission of the Center for Movement Education and Research (CMER) is to establish a place for in depth learning, certification, and research in movement education, dance/movement therapy, and ongoing understanding of the body-mind integration through movement practices. The CMER will offer movement classes for children and professional adult training in the varied applications of dance/movement education and therapy.
Description
The Center for Movement Education & Research(CMER) has two areas of focus, putting movement teachers in the LA public schools K-5th to stimulate curricular learning, creativty,body-mind integration, health and exercise. CMER is training their own movement teachers and using progressive creative movement concepts in which to teach children. The second area of focus, is to educate and train adults in the field of dance/movement therapy. At this time, we are the only place in CAlifornia that adults can get an indepth professioal education in the psychotherapudic use of movement.
