The museum is looking for a welder / fabricator for small projects. We had 2 fabricators and 1 machinist that left the state. Every so often we need a part made or fabricated. A retired hobby machinist would be a perfect fit for us. Metal and aluminum part replacements for exhibits. We're dealing with lots of old vehicle exhibits and sometimes parts are no longer available so welding and fabricating is needed to keep our exhibit vehicles restored.

The American Military Museum is looking for an experienced person to help with the upkeep of the older vehicles we have in our collection. These vehicles include gas and diesel fired engines, so, knowledge of points type ignition and carburation are preferred. Diesel is not as hard to keep in a running state, but we can teach you basics. Some of the other things include small military gasoline engines like the OA4-4, 2 cylinder opposed used in the M274 Mule as well as small engines on grounds maintenence items, blowers, mowers, trimmers, etc. We also do alot with brake systems, so that is a preferred skill also. Vehicles range from small things, like the Mule to Jeeps to1-1/2, 2-1/2, 5 and 10 ton trucks large things like tanks, APCs and LARCs Hours are not set in stone, our retired mechanic is on premisis Tuesday and Wednesday, but the hours you choose are up to you, Tuesday thru Sunday. We have younger volunteers that are willing to learn. This position can allow you to teach a younger person a skill that is no longer being taught in school or passed down through generations. No tools are required, we will supply them. If you are retired and want to get out of the house for a few hours, we will welcome you, come and join our family and help keep our retired War Horses alive!

Our museum is open on Fri-Sun from 10:00am to 4:30pm. We need a museum docent for Friday-Saturdays or Sundays . We could definitely use a hand in educating visitors from our community and young school groups that mainly come in on Fridays. Docent shifts can range from 9am to 1pm or 12:30pm to 4:30pm. Before opening, we do our safety checks and make sure the museum is ready to be opened. We set up small displays and any other signs we need for that day. At the end of the day, we help with cleaning up the museum. If you thoroughly love history and want to help teach the community of our nation's past and present mechanics, this is the museum for you. And if you are a veteran of the United States military we'd love to have you as well! If you can help keep military history alive, come join us! We'd love to have you. No experience needed. Just a love for history, mechanics, or an interest in updating your resume! Help us preserve our steel soldiers!

HELP KEEP OUR MILITARY MUSEUM OPEN. We are looking for seniors/retirees to help with keeping our display area neat and tidy, to help with public relations, working with our young volunteers to ensure safety procedures, and keeping our restoration shop organized. Mentor our youth with the skillsets they don't learn in school and be a part of the largest military museum on the west coast. Our museum has been involved in motion pictures and television. We are looking for the best person to manage our volunteers and museum youth. Your hours would be extremely flexible. We are in need of volunteers to work in our on-site shop with the restoration of military equipment and vehicles. Volunteers with shop experience and skills with mechanics, power tools, and safety are greatly needed. This would be a great way for a retired person with interest in military history and mechanics to donate their time. We would like this volunteer with shop experience and skills to be willing to work with our youth program which helps kid volunteers from 14-19 years old.
