Mission Statement

The mission of Exceptional Equestrians Unlimited is to provide educational and therapeutic horseback riding activities to those with special needs for an improved quality of life utilizing professional instructors and trained volunteers in a safe and secure environment. Description

Being an EEU volunteer is one of the most important positions with the program. There are several different types of volunteers including Horse Leader, Sidewalker and Barn Care (Barn Crew).

Sidewalkers do not need any prior horse experience or experience working with those with special needs. Sidewalkers must attend a new volunteer training seesion prior to classes starting. You must be 16 or older. Check our website for upcoming events or contact our Volunteer Cooridnatior at liberty4lara@gmail.com.

Horse Leaders must have prior horse experience. You must also volunteer as a side walker for at least on class session. Our classes run for eight weeks in the Spring and Fall, with various activites in the Summer.

Barn Crew does not require a training session. You will not be working with students as a member of our Barn Crew. Barn Crew members are needed seven days a week in the early morning. It is up to you what days and how many days you want to volunteer. Duties include mucking out stalls, taking the horses out to their pasture, feeding and watering. This is a fun opportunity in a very social setting.

For some, health care may be limited or facilities not equipped to help disabled persons to reach full potential or provide additional therapeutic measures that may be beyond the “traditional” means of therapy. With today’s economic uncertainties & proposed health care reform, it’s vital to help EEU, to maintain operations & provide the services that could be hindered during the interim of such transitions. With the potential of rationalized health care becoming reality, therapeutic measures may have to wait. Waiting could cause regression in progress already made. It is imperative that we don’t allow this & act now. Never take for granted the simple abilities we have to perform. At any given moment, you or I, or a loved one may need such services! People with disabilities are ridiculed, overlooked, & discriminated against. They have the right to the pursuit of happiness & together we can make that happen & help some find comfort in their struggles. I implore you to make a donation.
