Mission Statement

The mission of The Bounce Out the Stigma Project is to inspire and educate young people with special needs, through the creation and supporting of signature programs promoting healthy lifestyle choices. To make every child we come in contact with feel special regardless of "labels assigned to them. To remove the scars of stigma children feel because they are made to feel different. Through our programs the Project looks to create opportunities, and a sense of awareness of disabilities in the community. Our aim is to see children affected grow up successfully and become empowered leaders of tomorrow.

Description

Our staff works with campers and helps them to grow. Each camper, in their everyday lives are always given limitations based on what others believe they "should" be able to do, and many times these youngsters are never asked to try harder or do more. Too often, they receive "the labels of society "- autistic, attention deficit, epileptic, hyperactive, slow and even disabled. Too often, it is that "label" that creates a deep emotional scar and a childhood of "sitting on the sidelines" watching others have fun and they are never asked to play. It may even be called a "stigma". We call it unfair and seriously wrong. At Bounce Out the Stigma Camps, we feel that when challenges are met with peer support and nurturing adults, all kids can and will achieve more. This will both empowering our campers and lead to them discovering. . ."limits don't define me but, my will can define my limits!"
