The Overfield School is a joyful community of learners offering appropriate experiences in an enriched and caring environment. The goal of these experiences is to foster each child’s growth in five developmental areas: creative, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive.
For all Overfield children learning is a journey - one that takes place in an environment that is safe and inviting. Overfield is an inclusive community in which children, parents, and teachers work closely and value each other’s roles in this important process.
The Overfield School, a state-licensed, nonprofit for children from preschool through Kindergarten, is currently in its 53rd year. The student body has grown to over 100 children yearly. We serve families from the Miami Valley and beyond. At Overfield, a community-centered culture blends with the best of progressive education and responsive teaching to help make learning a way of life. The Reggio Emilia philosophy inspires all that we do as a community. Reggio Emilia is a living philosophy, one meant to adapt, evolve, and respond to the families embracing it. We believe children are strong, capable individuals, full of potential and curiosity and we strive to honor them as young learners and citizens. Our school is a place that encourages discovery, problem solving, social interaction, and collaboration between children, parents, and teachers. With intentional spaces that are inviting to groups large and small, the environment is valued for its important role in the process of learning. Classrooms reflect the presence of the children who inhabit them and the grounds are welcoming, open spaces ready for exploration.
