The Bolsa Chica Stewards, the Restoration Team of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, have been restoring the natural habitat on the Bolsa Chica Mesa since 1996. The Stewards meet twice each month - on the first Sunday and third Saturday from 9am to noon. Our goal is to restore the Bolsa Chica Mesa to a sustainable native habitat of California Grassland and Coastal Sage Scrub. Native habitats feed, shelter, and protect the native wildlife and add to the overall biodiversity and beauty of Bolsa Chica. The Stewards work on a variety of tasks, focusing on planting native plants from October through April, caring for the new plants, removing non-native plants, removing trash, and helping with other important maintenance tasks. We invite the community to join us in this important work. Please come dressed for a mess with long pants, closed toe shoes and sunscreen - we provide everything else. This volunteer opportunity is open to the entire community, and is great for families, school groups, scout groups, employee volunteer days, church groups, etc. Great for all ages (under 14 with an adult chaperone). Volunteer are required to sign-up on our website's volunteer portal.
