Mission Statement
New Hope Online Counseling is a 24 hour crisis intervention Christian hotline. Both teens and adults are available to provide peer counseling to chatters in a private chatroom. Our mission is to help hurting people and to save lives through caring, crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
Each volunteer is committed to offer crisis intervention, goal-setting, prayer, and community referrals to hurting people - no matter what their gender, color, religion, socioeconomic status, lifestyle, or personal need might be.
The New Hope Crisis Counseling Center is sponsored by the Crystal Cathedral and provides, free of charge, a suicide prevention and crisis intervention hotline, chat room, and Teenline to offer nonjudgmental love in Jesus' name to anyone seeking help - around the world, around the clock, 365 days a year since 1968.
Description
New Hope Counseling is a 24-hour online counseling service. Volunteer peer counselors counsel via a private chatroom offering care, prayer and referrals to chatters who are lonely, stressed, or in crisis.
Volunteers complete crisis training through our website by viewing training videos with brief tests.to complete. Role-play practice is then provided. Most counselors serve one four-hour shift every week. Adults complete shifts on their home computer from any location, including other states and countries. Teens must be local as most (under age 17) are required to come into our crisis center which is located on the Crystal Cathedral campus in Gardene Grove, California.
We receive more online chats than we can respond to. Counselors experience a tremendous sense of meaning as they make a real difference in the lives of hurting people.
