Mission Statement

Our mission at the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games is to provide courteous and enthusiastic service to athletes, coaches and thier families while they participate in the annual summer games.

Volunteers are the backbone of Special Olympics Pennsylvania. We could not exist without the dedication of thousands of Pennsylvania citizens. The time and energy of volunteers fuel our movement and make our athletes' dreams a reality.

Description

The Special Olympics Pennsylvania - Summer Games are held each year on the Penn State University Park Campus located in scenic State College Pennsylvania.

The 2007 games are being held between Thursday morning June 7th and Saturday evening June 9th, 2007.

Over 2,000 volunteers are needed each year to help with responsibilities which can include:

  • Scorekeeping
  • Timers and judges
  • Athlete Escorts
  • Ball chasers
  • Set-up and Tear-down of venues
  • Administrative Tasks
  • Specialized emergency personnel
  • Working activity booths at Olympic Village

There are volunteering opportunties for all ages and abilities. Groups are also encouraged to volunteer together.
