Mission Statement

Educating to end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives

Description

The Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation was created to bring a greater understanding, awareness and compassion to those suffering through the experience of domestic violence. Our mission is "educating to end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives." It is under this guiding principle that we have embarked on our Foundation initiatives.

Our education initiatives include the expansion of Margaret's Place sites in schools throughout the tri-state area. In addition, we have rolled out our Community Players Program that provides educational and awareness training for different sectors of the community.

Margaret's Place is a comprehensive program which combines individual and group counseling as well as interactive classroom workshops to teach students about the issues surrounding healthy and non-healthy relationships. Students also learn how they can take an active role in breaking the cycle of abuse by changing their school's culture through anti-violence campaigns.
