The mission of Student Mentor Partners is to provide Detroit area at risk youth an opportunity to realize their dreams and develop to their full potential.

Description

Student Mentor Partners (SMP) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, which through a combination of financial and personal support helps at-risk Detroit area youth to earn an excellent high school education and develop proper leadership skills to realize their potential in life. The program seeks to enable the youth to compete more successfully for employment, to be better qualified for higher education, to achieve greater personal fulfillment, and to contribute productively to society.

We assist youth from moderately low to low-income families in achieving a quality high school education through the guidance of mentor and tuition assistance. Families, mentors, and schools form a partnership to help youth attain the tools to succeed. Our purpose is to foster hope and break the cycle of poverty and frustration that limits many youth in our society.

This organization accepted my 14 year old daughter who was showing signs of depression, and had grades of C and lower. Since she has been with them, she has become outgoing, and is earning A's in school. She decided to stay in the Girl Scouts and has begun taking an interest in the younger girls at school. They run to her when they see her in the hallway. I could not reach her before. Now, we spend days together that are happy and peaceful. I would recommend Student Mentor Partners for any child who is having troubles and is willing to work hard to overcome them.
