Musician for Healing

Volunteers that are accomplished musicians will provide healing music to the hospital environment and our public space. We're always looking for the special combination of musical ability, taste and compassion. The Hospital has 2 pianos in different lobby areas that are available to play. (Mon - Fri between 7:00 am - 4:00 pm Consistent day and time - schedule is negotiated) Current minimum age requirement is 18 years old.

Paws for a Cause

PAWS FOR A CAUSE is AdventHealth Porter's pet visitation program. It is a socialization program that promotes patient health and welfare by using dog visits to comfort patients and minimize their separation anxiety and related stresses. To be accepted into this program, dogs must be a certified therapy dog through Alliance of Therapy dogs or Denver Pet Partners. Dogs must be at least 2 years of age, in good health, and friendly with young and old alike. The dog must be in a permanent home for at least 6 months prior to the program. The current minimum age requirement is 21 years old. Maximum age for the dog is 10. If your dog is not currently certified but you are interested in the process, you can visit www.therapydogs.com

Radiology/MRI Department Assistant

Be an extra pair of hands in one of our Radiology Center. Volunteers assists staff and patients with clerical duties, answering phones, greeting the patients, assisting patients, stocking, prepping rooms or gurneys and transporting patients (in wheelchairs) to the front entrance of the Hospital as the patient is being discharged from their appointment. These assignments are typically in four hour increments Mon - Sat between 7:00 am - 8:00 pm. Current minimum age requirement is 18 years old

I'm not sure when I volunteered, somewhere between my cancer operation, 08/2019 and beginning of pandemic. I was an effective and empathetic volunteer, and those are essential qualities for volunteering at Porter Hospital. They were understanding of people's situations, such as my need for fluctuation of a schedule on North 1, due to my cancer.
