Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Theatre Now New York is dedicated to facilitating the creation and development of new theatrical works, the re-imagining of previously produced known titles and reinterpretation of classic works through readings, workshops and work-in-progress presentations, promoting the understanding and appreciation of live theatre and its process to the general public and providing opportunities for emerging, mid-career and established theatre professionals.
Theatre Now New York (TNNY) achieves its mission through two programs: the RAW Reading series and its annual 10-minute musical festival, SOUND BITES.
The RAW Reading series is hosted four times per year by TNNY. Scripts presented at the RAW Reading series can be at any point in the developmental process. It's a chance for both TNNY and the audience to hear new works presented in a spontaneous and unplanned way. Participation by the audience is an integral part of the process, serving as an important step in the evolution of new plays and musicals.
The second SOUND BITES Festival will be on Monday, December 8, 2014. SOUND BITES is a musical theatre festival which showcases ten 10-minute musicals or musical excerpts in one evening. SOUND BITES offers a unique opportunity for talented writers, composers, and lyricists to showcase their work publicly in front of audiences and industry professionals. Through an open submission process, Theatre Now New York selects the ten best 10-minute musicals or musical excerpts which will then be presented in New York City. Each musical will compete for Festival Awards and for inclusion in future programs with the creative team of Theatre Now New York on the development of new works. SOUND BITES gives an exhilarating opportunity for artists of all theatrical disciplines at any point in their careers in getting their work seen and possibly developed further or even produced.
