Hunterdon Hospice, Inc. will provide physical, spiritual, psychosocial and bereavement support for persons with a terminal illness in Hunterdon County and its contiguous geographic areas by:
providing a quality service which focuses on promoting quality of life and combines empathetic caring with clinical competence,
assuring access to hospice service for all eligible persons regardless of diagnosis, age, or financial circumstances,
promoting a positive, caring image to the community,
promoting hospice as a unique service which contributes to the Hunterdon Healthcare System's mission to the community
Hunterdon Hospice provides a program of medical, religious and social support services to better enable the terminally ill patient to die at home when the focus of services is care rather than cure. Family members are given the support necessary to allow them to carry on their lives as normally as possible, with emphasis being placed on making the most of the patient's lifetime and helping the family to deal constructively with his or her death. Special attention is placed on the control of pain so that the patient is comfortable. After the patient's death, the family continues to receive the support of the hospice team through the bereavement period with visits and phone calls.
