Mission Statement

OneLife Institute is a community-based organization working at the intersection of spirituality and social action. Through classes, retreats, publications, events, counseling and consultation services we support and empower individuals and groups in personal healing and the creation of a just, compassionate, and sustainable world. We believe that spirituality and social activism are complementary and synergistic. Spiritual experience can motivate and sustain activism, offering replenishment in the face of burnout and fostering integrity, compassion, vision, and hope. Activism provides a context for spiritual practice, transforming our selves as we work to transform our world.

Description

Since 2004, OneLife has provided programs and services with three central goals: (1) Increasing the wellbeing of individuals and communities living under the stress of poverty, violence, oppression, and uncertain times; (2) Enhancing the sustainability and integrity of movements for social transformation and community uplift; (3) Co-creating an ever growing Beloved Community. We are particularly dedicated to nourishing the resilience of activists, organizers, caregivers, educators, artists, spiritual leaders, and others working to lift up our communities. We plant the seeds of social concern in individuals who may not primarily identify as activists, encourage critical reflection on social issues, and model a worldview that honors the dignity and worth of all lifekind.
