Mission Statement

Messenger Theatre Company is dedicated to the place where mythical meets modern. We create original collaborative works featuring physical theatre, masks, puppetry, live music and visual arts. We explore old stories through contemporary lenses and create new stories with classical structures. In every form, we pursue magic, wit and beauty.

Description

Messenger Theatre Company has performed at St Ann’s Warehouse, 59E59 Theaters, Basil Twist’s Puppet Parlor at HERE, BRIC Studio’s Sink or Swim Series, THAW! and more. The company was founded in 2001 by Emily Davis, Agathe David-Weill and Shannon Harvey in order to create vivid and vital theatre with a focus on clear storytelling and evocative images. Messenger has performed at the Edinburgh, New York, Chicago, Wilmington, Winnipeg and Toronto International Fringe Festivals as well as the Play Outside Festival for which it was featured on ABC-7 News.

Projects have been supported by the generosity of the Katherine Dalglish Foundation, the Nancy Quinn Fund, the Puffin Foundation, LMCC/Fund for Creative Communities & MCAF and our kind private donors.
