Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels reduces hunger and food insecurity, and promotes the dignity and independence of the homebound in the Ann Arbor area who, because of their health, are unable to shop and prepare complete meals by delivering nutritiously balanced meals six days a week.
Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels is a community-supported program of the University of Michigan Health System.
We provide meals to those who, because of their health, are homebound and unable to obtain food or prepare complete meals. We serve people regardless of age or financial status. Meals are offered at no cost, but clients are asked to make voluntary contributions. Program eligibility is not impacted by inability to contribute.
We deliver meals Monday - Saturday. Volunteers deliver the majority of our meals. Monday-Friday, meals are picked up at our office at 11:30 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays. A route consists of 10-14 meals and takes 1-2 hours to complete.
For many of our clients, a volunteer is the only person they see all day. For some, their favorite part of the program is seeing the smiling faces of the volunteers and taking a few miniutes to visit.
