Mission Statement

Clean Water Action is a one million member organization of diverse people and groups joined together to protect our environment, health, economic well-being and community quality of life. Our goals include clean, safe and affordable water; prevention of health threatening pollution; creation of environmentally safe jobs and businesses; and empowerment of people to make democracy work. Clean Water Action organizes strong grassroots groups and coalitions and campaigns to elect environmental candidates and solve environmental and community problems.

Description

Clean Water Action's one million members, volunteers and seasoned professional staff have built one of the nation's largest, most effective environmental organizations. Clean Water Action's grassroots muscle has been critical in shaping and strengthening laws such as the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Superfund for toxics cleanup.

Clean Water Action provides recognized leadership - at the local, state and national levels - on critically important environmental, health, ecosystem protection and community quality of life concerns.

Clean Water Action is effective because of its large and active grassroots membership base. Clean Water Action's programs are financially effective as well, in part because of their reliance on person-to-person outreach and education methods.
