Description
The building that houses the California Heritage Museum is as interesting as the exhibits themselves. Built in 1894, and recognized as the first Roy Jones house, the house was moved from its former location in 1979 and named an Official City Landmark. The following year it became home to the California Heritage Museum. There are photos of the extraordinary move in our permanent exhibit.
Exhibitions range from historic to contemporary. Our Summer 2015 exhibition, 'WATERCOLORS; One Man’s Passion - Selections from the E. Gene Crain Collection', includes 50 rarely-seen panintings by the California School of watercolor artists such as Rex Brant, Phil Dike, Joan Irving, Dong Kingman, Barse Miller, Phil Paradise, George Post and Millard Sheets.
