Mission Statement

Open Paths Counseling Center was founded in 1975 and is proud to have continuously served the Culver City/Mar Vista area of Los Angeles for over 30 years. The mission of Open Paths is to meet the evolving mental health needs of the community through quality counseling services to individuals and families at fees they can afford, free programs for at-risk children and youth in schools and a superior therapist training program.

Open Paths currently serves men, women and children who are emotionally troubled, are domestic violence perpetrators and survivors, and at-risk students in local schools. Services also include domestic violence and crisis intervention and parenting education. Most Open Paths' clients come from West Los Angeles, though some come from Downtown and the San Fernando Valley. Open Paths is also a highly respected therapist-training center with an experienced, well-trained staff. Over the past few years Open Paths has expanded services to offer counseling to Spanish-speaking clients. Over 11,000 hours of services are provided each year to more than 800 clients on an on-going basis. Open Paths currently has eight board members who are highly committed to carrying out the agency's mission, performing informed oversight and participating in fundraising.
