Mission Statement

Ma-Yi Theater Company is an award-winning not-for-profit Off-Broadway theater, founded in 1989 to create, develop, and produce new, forward-thinking plays that essay the Asian American experience.

We provide a home for Asian American artists to hone their individual and collaborative skills, and explore new ways of creating theater as they engage their communities in dialogues about our diverse and changing world.

Description

Ma-Yi Theater Company is about new work. We produce two mainstage productions each season, in addition to staged readings and workshops.

Additionally, we consider our audiences important collaborators on our work, and actively participate in the Asian American communities around New York City.
