Mission Statement

Friends of Red Rock Canyon supports Red Rock Canyon Open Space through stewardship, education, advocacy, fund raising and volunteer projects. Our Mission is to preserve, protect, restore and help the City of Colorado Springs maintain the open space. These efforts promote public awareness of Red Rock Canyon Open Space, provide education about the special natural and historic character of Red Rock Canyon Open Space, and protect and enhance its natural and recreational value.

Friends of Red Rock Canyon works in cooperation with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services to further these objectives.

Description

Friends of Red Rock Canyon is an independent nonprofit organization which is recognized as a 'friends' group by the City of Colorado Springs Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services.
FoRRC recruits volunteers to help build and maintain trails in RRC. We also do restoration projects- closing social trails and removing growth that is not indigenous to RRC. We inform the public as to what activiities are available for visitors and keep the public informed as to how the Master Plan is being manifested in RRC.

We fundraise to pay for our volunteer projects, materials, historic and geneolgy signage and tools. In 2006 we raised over $30,000 for projects in the open space. We offer annual memberships and newsletters seasonally and updated information on our web site.
