Ombudsmen are the eyes, ears and voices for vulnerable elders in long term care facilities. They encourage self-direction and autonomy among long-term care residents. Ombudsmen are problem solvers and strive to remove barriers to quality care wherever it exists and in whatever form it takes.
Ombudsmen advocate for the rights of the elderly in long-term care facilities. They visit residents, observe activities and environment, and investigate and help solve concerns and problems that may arise. Ombudsmen are primarily concerned with resident rights, quality of care and quality of life.
